Another fantastic local show was held last weekend. The Cooma Show attracted a large crowd with families enjoying the pavilion exhibits, rides, entertainment and to conclude the show, a fireworks display.

Well done to the Cooma Pastoral and Agricultural Association committee on staging a bumper show.

On Saturday, the Bombala Show will finish off the local show season. Council will again be holding an information stall where you can find out more about the strategies and plans on public exhibition, as well as learning more about biosecurity. Councillors and staff will be in attendance.

Last week, the first Ordinary Council Meeting for March was held. There was exciting news for Michelago with Council resolving to proceed with the construction of a new Michelago Rural Fire Brigade (RFB) shed.

Council will enter into a five-year lease with Transport NSW (through John Holland Rail). The shed will be located near the existing site. I would like to congratulate Michelago RFB treasurer Brien Hallett for his commitment in seeing this project come to fruition. The new shed will be very much welcomed by the Michelago community.

Councillors Peter Beer and John Castellari will represent Council on two ‘Go Jindabyne’ community working groups. The NSW Department of Planning and Environment requested that Council nominate a representative to sit on each of the two proposed working groups.

Community consultation is taking place for the proposed learner bike track at Cooma’s Nijong Oval sporting precinct. You can provide feedback by visiting Council’s Your Say Snowy Monaro platform or by filling out a hardcopy survey available at all Council offices.

You will be able to chat with the project manager and view the proposed designs for the learner bike track at a pop-up stall in Cooma CBD’s on Wednesday 13 March. The stall will be held outside the Cooma Visitors Centre between 1-2pm.

On Sunday, everyone is welcome to attend the official opening of Cooma’s Centennial Park playground. The official opening commences at 9.45am.
