The City of Albany is encouraging Little Grove, Robinson and Big Grove communities to join in the Little Family Fun Day and a chance to meet local City Councillors on Saturday, March 30 from 2pm-4pm.
The Little Family Fun Day is a free family event with a sausage sizzle, afternoon tea, fire truck display and bouncy castles suited to the whole family as part of ‘Neighbour Day’ celebrations. It’s an innovative way for Council to engage informally and directly with community.
Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said each year Neighbour Day encourages people to connect with those in our neighbourhood, and we thought we would combine this day with a council event.
“The City is testing an innovative and fun family event to connect better with the community. What better way to do this than to get out and have fun whilst listening to families talk about what is important to them. We would like to see local families coming along and sharing what is important to them with our local councillors,” said Mayor Wellington.
“We are hearing from the community that they would like Council to listen to their views and aspirations and these friendly events are a great way for residents to meet councillors in an informal setting”.
“Council has already visited communities in Green Range, Kalgan and Bornholm, and this offers an opportunity for communities to reach out and build connections with Council,” said Mayor Wellington.
The City of Albany acknowledges the South Coast Progress Association for co-hosting the day at the Little Grove Hall, and Relationships Australia for coordinating Neighbour Day.
