In 2018 Judy Rogers exhibited Body from the Suitcase in St Petersburg as part of a four week residency in the Russian city.
The title of her travelling exhibition is a play on words referring to Rogers’ interest in the human form and conveyance of a body of works to St Petersburg in a suitcase.
Body from the Suitcase is now travelling to ArtGeo Gallery, Busselton where Rogers’ mixed media sculptures and distinctive paintings of fragmented body parts and nudes will be on show from 20 March to 5 May.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Rogers has been based in Western Australia since 1995. An active participant in the WA art scene, she has gained international recognition for her disarming portraits and figurative paintings of everyday domestic subjects.
Her work is represented in public and private collections in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, France, China and Hungary.
In 2016 Rogers participated in the G20 exhibition in Hangzhou in China. In 2018 she took part in the 18th Asian Art Biennale at the Bangladesh National Gallery.
Following the launch of Body from the Suitcase at ArtGeo Gallery, Rogers will participate in the Sinergia International Painting Festival hosted by CETYS University in Baja California, Mexico.
Rogers will return to Busselton in May for a celebratory function for invited guests and two public events:
4 May: Introduction to portraiture workshop, 10am – 1pm.
5 May: Artist’s talk, 11am – 12 noon.
