Get that Grant

Are you part of a local club, society or organisation that has a great idea to improve an existing community facility or set up a whole new project, but needs an injection of funds? Have you considered applying for one of Council’s Community Capital Infrastructure Grants?

If that seems daunting, Council is running a ‘How to get that grant’ workshop on Wednesday, April 3, from 4pm-6pm at the Council Chamber. The workshop will look at all the details on which projects would fit the criteria to qualify and will also provide examples of the types of documents required to apply for grant funding. Information will also be provided on how Council can help you in the development of your grant proposal.

“We’ve helped set up some wonderful community enterprises under this grant programme – such as Pete’s Place laundry and help centre for the homeless in the CBD, a wheelchair-specific tennis court at Westside Tennis Club, a new croquet lawn at Sawtell Croquet Club and the fantastic Coffs Harbour Men’s Shed,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor Councillor Denise Knight. “All we need to make these things happen is the enthusiasm and commitment of the groups involved and some assistance and funds from Council. What are you waiting for?”

Community Capital Infrastructure Grants aim to assist not-for-profit and community organisations to undertake capital projects that enhance the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the local community.  Projects that could be eligible for funding may include new community infrastructure projects, refurbishment of existing infrastructure, projects that build capacity into infrastructure and innovative projects that serve a community benefit.

Council has $300,000 available for the 2019/20 funding round. Applications open on Monday, April 1, and close at 5pm on Friday, May 10 2019. Find out more at: www.coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au/CCIGrants

Attendance at the workshop is highly recommended should your organisation be considering applying for funding and all applicants are requested to contact Council about their proposed project and budget by Friday, April 26, prior to submitting an application.
