Coastal Villages Grant Announced
On Sunday 3 March 2019, The Hon. Melinda Pavey MP announced $10 million in grant funding to upgrade Bellingen Shire Council’s sewer infrastructure as part of her election promises.
The grant will contribute to new sewer infrastructure in Mylestom, parts of Repton, Raleigh and the Raleigh Industrial Estate, along with an upgrade of the Urunga sewerage treatment plant.
Project Progress and Program
Council has been busy formulating concept designs and preliminary environmental studies in preparation for a detailed design and construction phase in the event that successful funding is obtained.
Once the funding commitment is secured, Council will commence consultative engagement with the community, which will assist with the development of a detailed design. Every property to be connected to sewer, (both residential and business), will need to be individually surveyed and the affected owners will be consulted throughout this process.
Community information sessions will be held as the project progresses, to inform the community of the details of this scheme.
This map displays the areas initially proposed to be connected to reticulated sewer (in red, excluding the Raleigh Industrial estate).
