Not-for-profit groups and organisations in Maroondah seeking funding to help with delivering programs, services and projects are invited to apply for funding assistance through Council’s 2019/20 Community Grants Funding Program, which opened on Wednesday 13 March 2019.

Each year, Council offers eligible community groups the opportunity to share in funding made available through its Community Grants Funding Program.

Maroondah Mayor Councillor Rob Steane encouraged eligible groups with projects that fit the criteria to find out more about the program and submit an application before the closing date of Monday 29 April 2019.

“Funds are granted to incorporated or auspiced, not-for-profit community groups with limited access to financial resources and who can demonstrate their service or program makes a positive contribution to the Maroondah community,” Cr Steane said.

“This includes programs that will increase opportunities for community participation in social, arts and leisure activities, enhance community wellbeing, or a service demonstrating a community need within Maroondah.

“The program is designed to support new initiatives or enhance the delivery of existing services through funding equipment purchases or other costs associated with program delivery,” he said.

The funding program offers two annual grant schemes:

The Community Development Grants Scheme – offers financial assistance to not-for-profit community groups to develop programs, projects and events. Small Equipment Grants Scheme – eligible for requests of $500 or less to cover small equipment purchases, printing costs or administration costs to incorporated/not-for-profit support groups.

Last year, 62 community organisations benefited from $188,743 allocated through Council’s Community Funding Grants Program

Cr Steane said successful applicants were chosen based on the overall benefit of their program or project to the residents of Maroondah.

“Last year’s recipients came from a broad range of community groups, with a significant amount of funding being allocated to emergency relief and programs that support children, youth, seniors, disability groups and our CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) community,” he said.

“The financial assistance provided through the Community Grants Funding Program means that community groups have the resources to undertake a greater range of services, facilities and programs throughout the municipality,” he added.

All grant applications must be submitted online. Applicants will be advised as to the outcome of their application in mid-July and funding will be assigned during mid-August 2019.

Applications close on Monday 29 April 2019. Late applications will not be considered.
