Council launches Trade Mission to India

Western Sydney businesses will be given the opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing economies in the world, India, as part of Blacktown City Council’s International trade desk program.

The Trade Mission India 2019 will be launched at a special business breakfast on Tuesday 27 March with guest speaker Munish Sharma, Austrade Commissioner in Chennai, India. He will discuss how local businesses can trade successfully with India.

Blacktown City Deputy Mayor Tony Bleasdale said Blacktown City Council’s trade mission to India is an example of Council’s commitment to the economic growth of our City.

“Blacktown’s current economy is $15.6 billion and growing. The trade mission to India will give businesses in Western Sydney an opportunity to meet and develop relationships with businesses and dignitaries in India . It will also be an opportunity for us to enhance existing links with one of the fastest growing economies in the world.”

Cr Bleasdale said Council led a Trade Delegation to Korea in 2017 with at least 50 per cent businesses forming successful trade links.

The upcoming business breakfast will also include a panel discussion including business leaders and business partners working on the Trade Mission India 2019.
