Major Upgrade for Bowen Street

Published on 20 March 2019

Reconstruction works will begin this week to transform a 450-metre section of Bowen Street in Warragul, from Sutton Street to Clifford Street.

Initial preparation works will include service locating, earthworks and excavations before reconstruction works commence including:

Construction of new and wider road pavement. Fresh new asphalt and line marking. Improved surface and underground drainage. Construction of new kerb and channel.

Road users will also benefit from better access to adjoining properties and improved road-side parking.

As part of the project, ongoing service and maintenance of the road post-reconstruction will also be improved.

This $497,000 project is being funded through Council’s 2018/19 Capital Works program.

Works are expected for completion in mid-2019, weather permitting.

As works progress, traffic delays are expected and at times sections of the road may be temporarily closed. Traffic management will be in place throughout the reconstruction. Council appreciates community cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience. Nearby residents will be further notified as works progress by Council and/or the contractor.
