Introducing car parking technology around Church Street, Brighton

We are seeking your feedback on the proposal to introduce technology to maximise car parking around Church Street, Brighton.
What?
Bayside City Council is proposing to introduce in-ground parking sensors in and around Church Street to identify vacant car spaces.
These sensors will communicate with electronic variable message parking signs that will display where car spaces are available in real-time.
Why?
This initiative is designed to maximise the use of parking space for shoppers, tourists, traders and commuters and ensure that the Church Street Activity Centre remains vibrant and accessible.
Where?
The location of the real-time signage will be determined by best practice to ensure the signage can easily be seen by approaching traffic.
Take note
There are no plans to introduce paid parking in the area.
The new technology will also be used for data collection and compliance to supplement existing enforcement methods, and to inform strategic and infrastructure planning of the Church Street activity centre precinct.
