Harmony Festival – Coffs Harbour’s most diverse, exciting, exotic and adventure-filled event – returns with an even more fun, tasty and imaginative programme on March 31 at the Regional Botanic Garden.

“This year’s theme is ‘celebrating everyone’s journey to calling Coffs home’,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Denise Knight, who will officially open the event. “Harmony Festival is a fun, vibrant, welcoming, whole-of-community celebration, which has grown through the celebration of our different cultures and the acknowledgement of our diversity as a strong thread binding us together. Put the date in your diary – you don’t want to miss out!”

A highlight will be Aussie surf culture with the chance to help create a culturally-inspired mural on a VW Kombi shaped tent. Or for something a bit more physical – see how long you can survive the wild waves in the ‘So You Think You Can Surf?’ mechanical surfboard challenge. Come see what’s sizzling in THE MELTING POT. Journey deeper into an exotic food experience at Flavourhood, with cultural cooking demos and a live cross-cultural BBQ cook-off. Immerse yourself in the rich history, stories and people behind the food as you savour the flavour and sample their freshly cooked delights. This cultural immersion space will also feature our most diverse and amazing food market yet, showcasing food from all corners of the globe – a mouth-tingling mix of authentic home cooking and street food. The will be hands-on fun for all ages at the PLANET COFFS creative play space – where we celebrate our common connection to the natural beauty of our shared home. Featuring a whole new array of fully-sustainable craft activities and workshops including a massive whale origami installation and giant cardboard puppets – all culminating in the amazing community parade, dance spectacular and explosive colour run! Shake your caboose in the BEATS & FEETS dance tent – with African, Middle Eastern and Aboriginal dance workshops, Samba drumming and cultural DJ disco. Sit back, relax and deepen your connection in the Common Ground Lounge with an Ethiopian/Eritrean Coffee Ceremony and other immersive experiences as you are welcomed and hosted by diverse local communities. Enjoy an action-packed, non-stop, dynamic megamix of acts from across the globe on the MAIN STAGE – featuring the region’s finest cultural performance groups and extra special guests including Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival sensations Monkey Monkey Shake Shake and the powerful local Wajaarr Ngaarlu Aboriginal dancers.
