Whitsunday Regional Council has said farewell to long-serving Division 4 Councillor, Peter Ramage, after receiving his resignation late yesterday afternoon.

Peter has served the community over the last 18 years as divisional Councillor and at times Deputy Mayor, and has made a significant contribution during his time in local government.

An excerpt from Peter’s letter of resignation is as follows:

“Being elected to public office has been a great honour, in fact I consider it among my greatest achievements, but it has also been a lot of hard work.

When I decided to run again in 2016 I did so because I still felt I had a lot to offer. At the time I believed there was still a lot to be done for the whole region, bringing it together and working with the various organisations within my communities to help take our region forward. I have accomplished what I set out to do. Working with Mayor Andrew Willcox and my fellow Councillors, the region is back on track and now it is time for some new blood to step up into this role and build on my efforts.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the elected members, staff and our workforce for their support, and wish Whitsunday Regional Council much success in the coming years.

The biggest thank-you goes to my wife Vicki and my family for their understanding and unconditional support throughout my time in local government.”

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor, Councillors and staff would like to wish Peter, his wife Vicki and their family, all the best for the future.
