Songstress Maria Forde returns to Wyreena Conservatory Café to kick off the second Music Café performance of the year.
As an Irish-Australian, Maria Forde has always embraced both sides of her heritage in her songwriting.
Incorporating melodies that are the trademark of Irish music, together with references to Australian culture, Forde has blossomed into one of Australia’s premier songwriters.
She has toured nationally and internationally and has produced seven albums with several original songs covered by international artists.
Forde is just as comfortable performing to large crowds as she is in a more intimate setting, having performed the Irish anthem to audiences of more than 40,000 and with regular television appearances.
Since relocating to Trentham, in rural Victoria, Forde has begun to incorporate more of the wonder and fragility of the Australian bush into her work. Throughout her career, she has toured and performed at numerous festivals and built a dedicated fan base, both in Australia and internationally.
Forde has grown into a masterful interpreter of her own material, with the ability to connect the feeling of the music and words to the emotion of her songs.
Each month on a Friday in the Conservatory Café, Wyreena hosts a musical event featuring some of the country’s most talented artists.
Audiences are invited to soak up the sounds in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the Conservatory Café, an intimate venue with excellent acoustics and seating for 50 people.
Forde has performed to full houses at the Wyreena Music Café over many years and will delight audiences again this March.
