Kicking goals for Worrell Reserve Published: 22 March 2019

Further upgrades to Worrell Reserve are set to kick off, with a tender for pavilion construction works awarded at the ordinary Council meeting on Monday 18 March.

The $2.63 million development of Worrell Reserve pavilion will include modern change room facilities, universally accessible amenities, storage areas, 24/7 gym, and a social multipurpose room with community kitchen and amenities, and shaded spectator seating.

The construction of the pavilion will complement the recently completed reconstruction of the sports oval facility, including the training areas, car access and parking facilities.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Graeme Moore said the new pavilion would cater to the growing community and increasing interest in sports with facilities encouraging more female participation in sport and a space for all community members to increase their fitness.

“Council recognises the importance of increasing community participation in sports for future generations and is committed to providing the facilities needed to improve involvement in sports and recreation,” said Cr Moore.

Work to construct the pavilion is expected to commence during April 2019.

The reserve, located at 402A Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Emerald, is currently used by Emerald Junior Football Club, Emerald Cricket Club, Emerald Tennis Club, Emerald Community Gym and the wider community.
