Applications now open for community grants 2019 Published: 25 March 2019

Cardinia Shire Council’s Community wellbeing support and Festivals and events grant programs are now open for applications.

Applications for both grant programs close 5pm, Thursday 18 April 2019.

Community wellbeing support grants

Under the Community wellbeing support grants program community groups can apply for funding of between $2,000 and $5,000 across three categories:

Seeding grants of up to $5,000 assist in establishing new groups or initiatives (i.e. programs or projects) that seek to improve community health and wellbeing. Volunteering grants of up to $3,000 assist in recruiting and developing volunteers. Small change grants of up to $2,000 for ad-hoc support requests from established community groups and service organisations.

In their application, community groups must outline how the grant funding will enable them to contribute to achieving at least one of the Cardinia Shire Liveability Plan’s outcomes:

Reduce harm from alcohol, tobacco, drugs and gambling Reduce family violence Reduce financial vulnerability Improve mental health and wellbeing Reduce obesity Improve safety Improve social cohesion

Festival and events grants

The Festival and events grants program assists community groups to deliver a diverse mix of festivals and events that reflect and celebrate the local identity and interests of the Cardinia Shire community.

The program offers funding to cover the costs of running an event or festival (excluding payment of staff and associated staff/volunteer costs), across five categories:

Community festivals and events Art festivals and events Cultural festivals and events Agricultural shows and major events

Eligibility criteria for both grant programs requires that applicants are not-for-profit, locally based and/or servicing Cardinia Shire residents, and are either a Section 86 Committee of Council or an incorporated association (or auspiced by an incorporated organisation).
