All Aboard! Angaston Railway Precinct Works Begin

There’s movement at the station! The vision for the revitalisation of the Angaston Railway Precinct is about to become reality over the coming months as excavation work begins on station building and platform this week.

The Barossa Council Mayor Bim Lange and Angaston Railway Precinct Reference Group Chairperson, Mr Theo Marks, were on site for this momentous occasion. Mayor Lange said “After many years of negotiations and discussions with the Angaston Community [and Business Alliance] group it is extremely pleasing that we can now start on ground works to see the vision become reality” with Mr Marks adding the restoration would be “the jewel in the crown” of the town.

The $2.3 million project will include something for everyone, from adventure play areas, picnic and market spaces, to fitness stations and a mountain bike track. The revitalisation, which is being delivered in collaboration The Barossa Council, Angaston Community and Business Alliance, and Regional Development Australia, will incorporate the history and heritage of the area, while providing a modern, accessible community space, including improved access from South Terrace and Washington Street.

The Angaston Railway Precinct is part of The Barossa Council’s The Big Project which is an exciting 50 year region wide community infrastructure plan to develop and deliver investment in recreation, culture and tourism to lead social and economic outcomes in the region for decades to come.
