The West Tamar Council would like to announce Mayor Christina Holmdahl’s nomination for the President of the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT).
Mayor Holmdahl’s previous experience in the Media and Corporate Public Affairs sectors, coupled with her ten years of service to Local Government, have equipped her well to take on this new role.
Mayor Holmdahl was elected as a Councillor for the West Tamar Council in 2009 before achieving the title of Deputy Mayor in 2011 and then Mayor in 2014. She was popularly re-elected as Mayor by a resounding margin in October 2018. As well as her duties as Councillor and Mayor of the West Tamar, she is serving her second term as a member of the General Management Committee of LGAT, as well as being a member of the Premier’s Local Government Council, the LGAT CEO Appraisal Committee, the LGAT mentors program for the North West, and the Tamar Estuary Management Task Force.
Throughout her elected period, Mayor Holmdahl has successfully lobbied both Federal and State Governments for funding of projects throughout the municipality, and over issues that have affected the entire Local Government sector.
“I am pleased to announce my nomination for the President of LGAT and I am confident that I have the capacity to lead Tasmanian Local Government through its next chapter,” West Tamar Council Mayor Christina Holmdahl said.
