Community groups, businesses and residents are being urged to have their say on the Balonne Shire Council’s draft planning scheme.
Community consultation begins next week at the St George Cultural Centre on 3 April from 5-7pm and Dirranbandi Civic Centre on 4 April from 5-7pm.
Mayor Richard Marsh said it was very important for residents to have their say on the new planning scheme.
“This document will be in place for a lengthy time so it is vital we get it right,” he said.
“The Draft Balonne Shire Planning Scheme will play a key role the Shire’s strategic land use planning and development assessment and will help manage growth and development in our Shire.
“We thank our Planning Officer and the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning for their help in getting this draft scheme ready for community consultation.”
Council in partnership with the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning will host a series of Meet the Planner sessions:
St George Cultural Centre on 3 April from 5-7pm Dirranbandi Civic Centre on 4 April from 5-7pm Two Mile Hotel, Mungindi on 29 April from 5-7pm Francis Hotel, Thallon on 30 April from 5-7pm Bollon Civic Centre on 1 May from 5-7pmThe Draft Balonne Shire Planning Scheme will open for public consultation from 1 April 2019 through to 7 June 2019. Copies of the draft scheme will be available for viewing and downloading from Council’s website or available for inspection at Council’s offices in St George and Libraries.
For submissions to be considered they will need to be submitted electronically via Council’s website or in writing with the signature of each person making the submission, and must be received by 5pm 7 June 2019.
