Are you, or do you know a talented artist whose work would be worthy of featuring in one of the busiest and most frequented areas of Gympie?

Gympie Regional Council is seeking artists to produce art pieces for Mary Street between Monkland and Channon Streets in the Gympie CBD.

The selected artworks will form part of the $3,000,000 Upper Mary Street upgrade along with new footpath surfaces and kerb and channel, tree plantings and garden beds, and new seating and other street furniture. The off-street council carpark opposite the council offices will also be converted to a public carpark. Fifty per cent of this project is supported by the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.

While the main construction contract is currently out to tender, Council is also calling for expressions of interest (EoI) from artists to design and fabricate two different types of art work. The first is to provide up to seven metal pieces for inlay into concrete surfaces at three new “seating nodes” that will be constructed in the street. The second EoI is for a barrier or screen installation at the top end of the street on the border of the off-street car park.

Expressions of Interest close at 5pm on Thursday 18 April 2019.

All submissions must be lodged in accordance with the EoI document and have a completed Expression of Interest Form, cover letter and short artist statement, a curriculum vitae and a portfolio of images of previous relevant work.

An Expression of Interest document may be obtained by contacting Joolie Gibbs, Gympie Regional Gallery Co-ordinator, PO Box 155, Gympie QLD 4570 or email [email protected]
