Discounted cat desexing for pensioners or low incomes

Fairfield City Council, in partnership with the Cat Protection Society of NSW, is offering these residents a discounted rate on desexing and microchipping their cats.

“Operation Cat”, which runs from 20 to 31 May 2019, is a great opportunity for Fairfield City residents to take advantage of discounted desexing.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said it was important to remember that cats ideally should be desexed before they reach 12-16 weeks of age.

Desexing male and female cats prevents the birth of unwanted kittens, stops the development of antisocial behaviours such as spraying, and reduces the incidence of fighting.

“Microchipping your cat is a legal requirement, but more importantly it allows us to reunite lost cats with their loved ones,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Operation Cat helps those on low incomes with the rising cost of living while also being able to enjoy responsible pet ownership.”

Discounted prices during Operation Cat include pick-up and return of your cat by a Cat Protection Welfare Officer.

There are limited spots available, so register your interest to secure your spot.

Prices are: • Desex and microchip (female) - $90 (if pregnant, an extra $50) • Desex and microchip (male) - $80 • Desex only (female) - $80 (if pregnant, an extra $50)  • Desex only (male) - $70 • Microchipping only - $30
