The adage truth is stranger than fiction could be the subtitle to media identity Jessica Rowe’s visit to Toowoomba on Wednesday, April 3.

Jessica Rowe AM will discuss her latest book, Diary of a Crap Housewife, at The Annex behind Toowoomba City Hall, 541 Ruthven Street, from 6pm.

In an era of Instagram perfection and highly honed media messaging, Jessica drops her guard to provide a dose of realism for women everywhere who are juggling work and family roles.

Anyone scrambling to fill children’s lunch boxes, arrange the school drop-off, scurry through a work day and repeat the effort in the afternoon would identify with her latest musings.

Jessica, a mother of two, uses her down-to-earth style to write honestly about her lack of culinary skills and the real life messes that are brushed over in the pursuit of perfection.

The diary resets the bar about normal family life and directs readers to focus on the important aspects of mothering, raising children and family life.

Amid the humour and self-deprecation, Jessica tells readers to set realistic goals while striving to be kind, loving, smart and funny.

The author is a passionate mental health advocate, especially for new mums, who was awarded an Order of Australia for her contributions to the health sector as well as Australian media.

Please reserve a free seat for this event by contacting Toowoomba City Library on 4688 6670.

Toowoomba Region Libraries is hosting the author’s visit two days after the book’s publication.
