Moree Plains Shire Council has committed $1000 to the ‘Fairview on Trawalla’ biennial long lunch, held under the picturesque canopy of the pecan trees at Stahmann Farms on Saturday, 30 March 2019.
Funds raised as part of ‘Fairview on Trawalla’, including ticket sales, raffles and auction funds are donated to Fairview Retirement Village to ensure the important facility can continue to provide high quality Aged Care Services to the community of Moree and the district.
Mayor, Cr Katrina Humphries emphasised how important it was for council to give back to the community it serves, “it’s great to see so many community organisations receive much needed support that will further help them to deliver more exciting projects and services that benefit our entire community”.
“We are very fortunate that the Moree Plains have high quality aged care facilities in Fairview.
“They provide a wonderful service to our community and Council is proud to support them in their fundraising endeavours,” said Cr Humphries.
Chairperson of the Fairview Board, Mrs Vanessa Parkes agreed, “we couldn’t continue this wonderful event without the backing of Council and generous local community groups and businesses who have donated the raffle and auction items, along with the fabulous volunteer organizing team headed by Joy Peachey”.
“We are thrilled with the funding and continued community support,” continued Mrs Parkes.
With over 450 people in attendance, the event is known as a highlight on the Moree social calendar and helps to support local providers including produce and materials hire.
The 2017 ‘Fairview on Trawalla’ raised over $60,000, which went towards refurbishments and upgrades within Fairview Retirement Village.
