Help Inform Our Future Growth

Coffs Harbour City Council is currently reviewing and updating its Local Growth Management Strategy (LGMS). The revised Strategy will outline how Council intends to achieve the community’s aspirations for Coffs Harbour as it grows into a regional city.

One of the key considerations of the LGMS is how to plan for population growth over the next twenty years, whilst protecting valuable environmental and agricultural land and neighbourhood character.

As part of this review, Council has prepared draft Chapter 6 Large Lot Residential Lands (formally known as rural residential) to provide a strategic approach to the delivery of large lot residential development within the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area.

A separate Large Lot Residential Background Paper has also been prepared to assist the community in understanding the key challenges and principles that are considered in planning for large lot residential development.

Further chapters about specific land uses are to be included in the overarching strategy and each will have a separate public exhibition process over the coming 12 months.

“When finalised the Local Growth Management Strategy will be the blueprint for how we manage growth in a sustainable way,” said Marcy Mills, Acting Section Leader, Local Planning.

“By planning in a 20 year period, we can protect and enhance the character and liveability of our communities, improve employment and educational opportunities, build the local economy and make efficient use of existing and future infrastructure.”
