Baw Baw Road Safety Strategy Wins Award

Baw Baw Shire Council has joined other Gippsland organisations, community groups and individuals in receiving an award at the annual Gippsland Road Safety Forum.

Baw Baw’s Road Safety Strategy was recognised with a Local Government Initiatives Award presented by Regional Roads Victoria (RRV) at the yesterday’s forum in Traralgon.

The award specifically recognised the community engagement and evidence-based approach used in the development of the Baw Baw Road Safety Strategy.

Award categories and winners include:

Community Programs and Initiatives Award

Twin River Community Group for demonstrating leadership and engaging stakeholders to improve safety in Nicholson, Swan Reach and Johnsonville.

Local Government Initiatives Award

Wellington Shire Council for embedding road safety into local government operations, strategies and plans. Baw Baw Shire Council for the community engagement and evidence-based approach used in the development of the Baw Baw Road Safety Strategy.

State Government Initiatives Award

East Gippsland Highway Patrols for the innovative development and implementation of the Line Tracking Detection technique.

Individual Outstanding Contribution and Road Safety Award
