Jump off the couch and get creative this Easter break with Council’s April school holiday program.

The program starts on Monday 8 April and runs through to Thursday 18 April with free activities being held at the Burdekin and Home Hill Branch Libraries.

Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said there are plenty of free activities to keep kids entertained.

“One of the highlights this year will be the TheatreiNQ workshops being held on Thursday 11 April. Children can unleash their inner joker during a Clowning Workshop, or develop their visual story telling skills during our physical theatre workshop,” Cr McLaughlin.

“For younger children, we have four Easter-themed craft sessions where they can make things such as carrot gift baskets, Easter chicks, sand art and Easter bunny origami.”

Cr McLaughlin said children and their families could also explore contemporary art as part of the program.

“The APT9 Kids on Tour program will include a number of interactive artist projects exploring exhibition themes from the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT9), which is being held at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.

“As part of the APT9 Kids on Tour exhibit, families can take part in six different interactive activities, such as origami wish boats, paper bead necklaces and pattern designs.”
