Boroondara Library Service is celebrating our city’s fantastic heritage, history and culture through a series of events in April and May 2019.
We are participating in the 2019 Australian Heritage Festival, a countrywide initiative taking place from 18 April to 19 May. This year’s festival theme is Connecting People, Places and Past.
Our events provide you with the opportunity to explore your family history and the places where we live. All our events are free. Registration is essential.
Brush up your research skillsTake the first step on your own family history journey with Getting started with family history (Wednesday 3 April) at Hawthorn Library.
You can then join in to our monthly Genie Group on Tuesday 16 April at Camberwell Library for experienced and novice researchers alike.
Genie Group will begin with a short presentation by staff, followed by chatting and swapping family history research tips. The topics for autumn are Writing our family histories and Travel and family history.
Delve into the history of your house, apartment, shopfront at our workshop, How to research the history of your house on Monday 29 April.
On Tuesday 30 April, learn more about the history and ecology of local waterways at The Yarra River and Boroondara, a special presentation by Yarra River Keeper Andrew Kelly,
We will show you new research skills and how to access millions of digital records in a handy Treasures of TROVE session at Balwyn Library (Wednesday 1 May).
Showcase your local photography
