Running from Tuesday 2 April to Sunday 14 April 2019, the exhibition will showcase the photos that were submitted during the 2018 Selfie with a Senior Competition. Sixty photos will be on display during the exhibition, including the winning entry from local resident Kelly Powell.
The Selfie with a Senior Competition encouraged community members to take a selfie with a senior and add a short description of why they chose that person.
The City received a variety of entries from people of all ages and backgrounds who celebrated their grandparents, great-grandparents, neighbours, volunteers, friends and mentors. City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the Selfie with a Senior Exhibition was focused on helping the community change the way they think about ageing.
"The Selfie with a Senior competition in 2018 was a huge success and the City is now thrilled to be hosting an exhibition that showcases the people who have helped make our community such a fantastic place," Mayor Sammels said.
"Seniors are the heart and memory of our City and the Selfie with a Senior Exhibition will play an important role in continuing to combat the harmful stereotypes that are associated with ageing."
The Selfie with a Senior Exhibition will be open Monday to Friday from 10am–5pm. On the weekends it will be open from 10am–4pm. Entry is free.
