The City of Swan is bringing the Swan Valley to Singapore in a bid to attract more overseas visitors to the food and wine region.
Representatives from the local tourism industry will take part in the signature Swan Valley Unearthed event in Singapore on April 2, which is designed to showcase the region's food, wine and experiences to the Singapore travel trade industry and media.
The event includes an exclusive dinner event where Swan Valley wines are matched to the dinner menu.
It will also be supported by a significant consumer marketing campaign to drive visitation, supported by Destination Perth.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said Singapore is the third biggest source of overseas visitors to WA, and the intention of the event is to increase the Swan Valley's market share.
"Benefits available from tourism include additional visitor expenditure which supports new jobs, investment attraction and better facilities for our communities and visitors," he said.
"With the recent $12 million commitment from the State Government to promote WA across the world, we're very excited to see significant growth in WA's share of visitors."
The event complements the release of five new Swan Valley food and wine trails; Fresh Seasonal Produce, Fine Wine, Wine and Art Off the Beaten Track, Kids in the Valley, and Bushtucker and Beyond.
Representatives from the food and wine trails will attend the event to provide a produce tasting experience, including bush tucker preserves, wine, cider, chocolate, nuts, nougat and honey.
Representatives include experts from House of Honey, John Kosovich Wines, Kato's at 3000, Gomboc Gallery and Novotel Vines Resort.
"We are very fortunate to have a passionate and knowledgeable community who stand behind the region and work together to make the Swan Valley a destination of choice," said Mayor Lucas.
The City of Swan's commitment to tourism has been recognised, having won the national local government award for tourism in 2013, and Swan Valley Visitor Centre named best in Australia for the past two years.
