Residents and event organisers can now book some key council facilities with a new digital booking system launched this week.
Coffs Harbour Mayor Councillor Denise Knight said the project was all about offering a simple, more streamlined booking process.
“We wanted people to be able to easily book a space, know what’s available, what it will cost and pay for it – at any time of the day,” said Cr Knight.
“This system is a win-win scenario for Council and the community as it improves customer service, makes sure our spaces are used more often by more people and simplifies our in-house processes so staff can concentrate on delivering even better service.”
And another bonus for customers is that Council is waiving all credit card fees on bookings done completely online through the system.
Council staff have been working with Zipporah Software Systems for the past eight months to design a user-friendly system that allows customers to complete the entire booking process online.
Customers can check available dates, book a venue, make a debit/credit card payment and receive confirmation of the transaction.
First cabs off the rank are the Cavanbah Centre and the Community Village. Sporting fields, popular spots for weddings and busker spaces will also be rolled out in the first half of 2019.
“Bookings will be able to be made for recreational activities, club meetings, weddings, classes and functions,” added Cr Knight.
“It’s a much more convenient option for everyone and will save people having to make a trip to our offices or be waiting on a call back from staff.”
