Council’s newly adopted Maroondah Parking Framework is aimed at ensuring we are best placed to cater for the parking needs of our community.
At its meeting on Monday 18 March, Council adopted the Maroondah Parking Framework and will now focus on implementing the action plan.
Maroondah Mayor Councillor Rob Steane said the framework was based on research and parking trends as well as incorporating the views and priorities expressed by the community.
“The document not only describes Council’s vision for the management of parking but it supports the development of an action plan which will help ensure that we are on target to meet our objectives and responsibilities in relation to parking,” Cr Steane said.
Council will undertake a series of key actions to support the Framework, over the next four years. These will include:
Parking guidelines for specific land use areas Enhancing traffic safety Increasing the use of sustainable transport modes Developing a Maroondah Car Share Policy Adopting a best practice approach to dealing with parking complaints and safety concerns Reviewing the parking management strategy around Maroondah Hospital Addressing overflow parking issues across the municipality.“I thank the community for their input into the development of this framework and look forward to seeing these actions implemented over the coming years,” Cr Steane said.
