City of Darwin’s Healthy Darwin Dry Season program kicks off next week with a full schedule of healthy lifestyle classes, activities and workshops.
City of Darwin subsidises all of the classes and workshops, with most costing just $5 per class. Classes include Pilates in the Park, Mums and Bubs Belly Dancing, Love your Body workshops for seniors, Boxercise, Zumba and Disability Dance & Drama. More activities and events will be added throughout the season, from 1 April through 30 September.
Lord Mayor of Darwin, Kon Vatskalis said “City of Darwin is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle and our program offers a diverse mix of healthy activities, for a variety of fitness levels, ages and abilities.”
“Our focus is on encouraging participation and the cost for all classes is kept low to ensure everyone can attend.”
“Following a healthy lifestyle is so much easier in Darwin; we have a great outdoor lifestyle and terrific parks and green spaces. Our Healthy Darwin program promotes connecting with community and having fun while you get fit.”
Healthy Darwin is a year round program that changes each April and October to coincide with our seasons.
This Dry Season’s activities will be held at locations across Darwin, including Bicentennial Park, Casuarina Pool and Harmony Hall in Malak.
City of Darwin’s Recreation and Leisure Coordinator, Clare Beacham said the Dry Season program offers more than 20 different activities and workshops.
“Healthy Darwin continues to grow, as we build partnerships with many different providers in order to offer an interesting and diverse range of low-cost activities,” she said.
