Central Highlands Regional Council in partnership with the Queensland Reconstruction Authority have hosted a one-day workshop to develop the Central Highlands Bushfire Recovery Plan following last year’s bushfires.
Once completed, the plan will be a public resource and guide to achieve full environmental, human, economic and infrastructural recovery from the fires.
Council Coordinator of Disaster Management and Community Resilience Glenn Bell said the purpose of the workshop was to bring information together from all involved.
‘We had representatives from emergency services, Queensland Parks, community recovery service staff, state and local government get together to create a pool of information and learnings,’ Mr Bell said.
‘We will now work through the findings and develop a recovery action plan that will guide our ongoing recovery efforts.’
Mr Bell said the ongoing work shows the lengthy process of recovery from the event.
‘The 2018 bushfires were a major event for our region and we want to make sure people are supported.”
