Submissions Open For Moree Civic Precinct Redevelopment Reference Group

Moree Plains Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from local community members to join the Moree Civic Precinct Redevelopment Project Reference Group, with submissions due 4pm Monday, 6 May 2019.

Opened in 1923, the Moree Civic Precinct – incorporating the Moree War Memorial Hall, Banquet Hall and Moree Community Library – is set to undergo a $2.5m redevelopment in order to bring it in line with modern building and safety standards, improve the amenity for guests and increase functionality for user groups.

The project has been awarded over $1m by NSW Government’s Regional Cultural Fund and is also backed by a Council contribution of approximately $1.3m.

Mayor Cr. Katrina Humphries said, “we know that the Civic Precinct is incredibly important to our local community, as many of our social functions centre around this beautiful old building”.

“To ensure that the new upgrades are the right fit for the community and user groups’ needs we are asking for interested locals with experience in artistic and cultural events, or event management to consider becoming part of the reference group for the project.”

There are three community representative positions on the Reference Group, with the remaining members made up of Councillors, Council staff, NSW Planning and Environment, the Moree Plains Shire Heritage Advisor and the head contractor for the project.

To register their interest, parties need to complete a simple one-page Expression of Interest form (found by clicking the link above).

Submissions strictly close at 4pm on Monday, 6 May 2019.

Please note that applicants must be current residents of the Moree Plains Shire.
