Gympie Regional Council is offering free native plant tubestock for schools, clubs and local community groups to plant within their grounds.
The free trees are an initiative of Council that aims to promote the use of native plants within our region.
Introducing native plants attracts local wildlife, including birds and butterflies back into our gardens. These plants also create food and habitat opportunities for a myriad of other native fauna.
The free plants can be used for a variety of purposes including community tree plantings to revegetate bare gardens, create shady areas, plant an educational rainforest walk, extend koala habitat corridors or plant a garden designed specifically to attract native birds or butterflies.
Applicants must be a registered community organisation, sporting club, school or not for profit organisation to receive free trees from Council’s Free Tree program.
Applications are open from 2 April 2019 to 31 May 2019.
