Why not consider filling your home with the purr of a new family member this Easter rather than filling your fridge with chocolate?

More than 160 cats and kittens currently being cared for at the Ballarat Animal Shelter are desperate to find new homes.

And we’re hoping you may be able to help.

With kitten season in full swing, the shelter is being inundated with cats and kittens being surrendered.

Now shelter staff are faced with the task of finding these cats and kittens new homes so they can make way for more felines needing assistance.

Between April 15-28, the Ballarat Animal Shelter will reduce the adoption fee for cats and kittens to encourage community members to think about adopting.

The cost of adopting cats and kittens under the age of four will be reduced to $85, while all cats over the age of four will be free.

All cats and kittens are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and flea and worm checked.

The adoption fee also includes registration in the Ballarat municipality for the year ahead.

If you are thinking of adopting a cat or kitten please contact the Ballarat Animal Shelter today on 5334 2075.

Cats can make great companions, are very adaptable to different lifestyles and are generally easy to look after.

As part of the adoption application, applicants will be subject to a suitability questionnaire and all family members are encouraged to be involved adoption process.
