The April 24 Ordinary Council Meeting has been cancelled to concentrate instead on budget discussions ahead of the Special Council Meeting only a week later on May 1 to deliver the 2019/2020 Budget.

The City of Ballarat is the custodian of $1.9 billion-worth of assets, delivers 80-plus services and has an annual budget in the vicinity of $180 million.

Preparation and discussions on a budget of this size requires considerable time on behalf of both staff and councillors, and it was felt most appropriate to cancel the Ordinary Council Meeting to prepare thoroughly for the budget delivery instead.
