Scooters, glitter tattoos and yoga are all part of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s free Youth Week WA celebrations at Briggs Park, Byford from 10am-2pm on April 14.
Youth Week WA, which runs across the state from April 13-20, is the single largest celebration of young people on the Western Australian youth calendar.
The Shire’s Youth Development Team is hosting a free youth week event for young people aged 12-18 with a scooter competition held by Ruckus Scooters the feature event.
The event will also include the official opening of Briggs Park Skate Park which was completed late last year.
A range of activities will also be held at the Briggs Park Pavilion including a live DJ, photo booth, hair braiding, glitter tattoos, yoga and mindfulness as well as free pizza.
Shire President Michelle Rich said the event was part of the Shire’s new approach in providing a range of activities for the community’s large youth population.
“Local young people expressed an interest in having their very own scooter competition to our Youth Development Team late last year and the Shire is excited to be able to meet this request and provide young people with a day of celebration, fun and activity,” Cr Rich said.
“This event also provides an excellent opportunity to formally launch the Byford Skate Park, which is a great new asset for our local community.
“I’d encourage our young people to get involved in our Youth Week WA event and meet other young people in our community.”
