A total of $190,000 is up for grabs for Corangamite Shire community groups, clubs, and individuals with plans that benefit their community.
Applications for Corangamite Shire Council’s Annual Council Grants Programs open on Monday 8 April 2019.
They include $60,000 for Events and Festivals, $50,000 for Facilities, $30,000 in Environment Support, and $50,000 in Community Grants.
Mayor Neil Trotter encouraged interested parties to get in touch with Council and find out which grant program best matched their specific project.
“We want to make sure each dollar is spent in a way that gives the community the most out of each program,” Cr Trotter said.
“Council staff can help ensure you apply for the right program, and can provide advice on your application to maximise your chance of success.”
Cr Trotter said Council was proud to support volunteer organisations that formed the backbone of the Shire’s towns and farming communities.
“These grants programs are a direct and practical way we can enable community groups to achieve their particular goals which contribute to the health, economy, and social wellbeing of the Shire into the future.
“If anyone needs assistance or advice regarding the application process, they should contact Council and draw on our staff members’ knowledge and experience.”
The Facility, Community, and Environment Support programs are provided on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
The Community Grants Program offers up to $1000 towards local community events, workshops and equipment purchases, planning activities and the development of new community, leisure, cultural or recreational programs.
The Facility Grants Program offers up to $2000 to Committees of Management and clubs or organisations whose primary function in the Shire is to help with facility improvements or equipment.
The Environment Support Grants Program offers up to $2000 (include in-kind support) for environment and sustainability projects, including installation of energy and water saving items at community facilities.
The Events and Festivals Grant Program offers up to $15,000, made up of a maximum of $10,000 grant funding and a maximum of $5000 of in-kind support. It is intended for bigger events that increase visitation and stimulate economic activity in the Shire.
