Central Highlands Regional Council reminds people to be safe on the roads these Easter school holidays.
Mayor Kerry Hayes said the number of fatal accidents in the wider Central Queensland region over the last months is a sad reminder that road safety is something we become complacent about all too easy.
‘Whether you are planning a weekend away with the family or road tripping with your friends, I urge you to stay safe and obey the road rules during the Easter holidays and beyond,’ Mayor Hayes said.
Queensland Police kicked off their Easter Road Safety Campaign last Friday and an increased police presence can be expected targeting the Fatal Five.
‘Speeding, driving under influence, not using a seat belt and driving distracted will not get you anywhere,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘Take your time, slow down and be mindful of others, and be safe these Easter holidays.’
