Water infrastructure upgrades

Works totalling more than $4 million have been approved to improve water and waste water infrastructure in the city.

Two projects were given the go ahead at this morning’s Council meeting:

Upgrade of the sewerage pump station servicing the CBDConstruction of the Yorkeys Knob water main.

The sewerage pump station will get a significant upgrade to ensure continued service while addressing future demand.

The dedicated water main for Yorkeys Knob will secure potable water supply to the suburb while improving water pressure.

Currently water supply comes from the north of the city, where considerable growth in the Smithfield and Trinity Beach areas has meant the network is at capacity.

The new water main will connect Yorkeys Knob to the higher capacity Moore Road Reservoir.
