Northern Beaches Council will be well represented when ten of the peninsula’s best surfers make their way to Maroubra this Friday, 12 April to compete in the inaugural Lifeguard Surfers Cup.
David Vlug, Bodie Smith, Scott Mortimer, Declan Wyton, Ethan Raper and Dean Whiteman are confirmed starters in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, where they will compete against lifeguard teams from across Sydney as well as teams from the NSW central coast and NSW south coast.
Fellow Council lifeguards Madi Quinn, Rhiannon Lougher, Alana Hale and Georgette Randal are also primed to compete in Maroubra.
The event incorporates a surf-tag based format where competitors start on the beach and tag their team-mates before paddling out to conquer Mother Nature. One wave from each of the five surfers will go towards the team overall tally.
Other teams include Randwick, Waverley, Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Wollongong.
The triumphant Council team will take home a jet ski rescue sled, thanks to event partner Pro Guarding.
