Local young people will celebrate Youth Week with activities in the Providore Place pavilion, Market Square, the Devonport Regional Gallery and the Library on Friday afternoon.
For several years Devonport’s young people have sought to “Reclaim the Lane” but this year they will “Embrace the Place” for the city’s premier Youth Week Tasmania event.
Some of the events include local musical artists Lasca Dry and After Cliche, roving entertainment, pizza deliveries, a sketchbook project and a photo booth.
Local youth service providers - including Youth, Family and Community Connections, Family Planning Tasmania, Anglicare, Wellways, Mission Australia, CVGT, Don College, Cancer Council, QUIT Tasmania and Save the Children will have interactive stalls in the pavilion
The event is a joint initiative of the Devonport City Council and YFCC and will run from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
“Embrace the Place” promises to be a vibrant celebration of youth, arts and music in a family friendly environment.
We have once again worked with young people and the YFCC – as we have for almost a decade now to create an event which meets their needs.
Youth Week Tasmania begins tomorrow and runs until 17 April. It aims to celebrate the efforts and contributions of young people aged 12 – 25 in their communities.
