Let us know your thoughts on the draft concept plan for a district park at Plateau Drive, Wollongbar.
Parks and recreational areas play an important part on the health and wellbeing of any community. An opportunity exists for a district park at Plateau Drive, Wollongbar to support the growing community of Wollongbar. A draft concept plan has been prepared and Council would like the community’s feedback on the plan.
Background to proposalA shire-wide Community Facilities and Open Space Needs Analysis report was prepared in 2004 which identified the need for a district park within the Wollongbar Urban Expansion Area.
The district park for the Wollongbar area is proposed at the former Wollongbar Drive-in site on Plateau Drive in the Ballina Shire Open Space Strategy 2008 and the Ballina Shire Contributions Plan 2008 (BSCP). The BSCP also nominates the inclusion of a skate park at the site.
Council has considered skate park facilities on the Alstonville Plateau in various locations; more specifically in Wollongbar, including at the Plateau Drive site.
At its Ordinary Meeting 28 March 2019, Council approved a public exhibition process to seek community feedback on the draft concept design for the district park at Plateau Drive, including a proposed skate park.
Download: Providing feedback:Feedback can be provided via the survey. The survey will be open Wednesday 24 April. The launch of the survey part way through the exhibition period is to give community members an opportunity to throughly review the concept design and provide well considered feedback.
