Intersection safety improved

Council has recently installed roundabouts at busy intersections to make them safer for motorists.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said each of the roundabouts will improve traffic flow as well as significantly lessen the chance of crashes.
“Road safety is one of Council’s priority concerns,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Investment in road infrastructure is an investment in our community’s safety.
“We want families to be able to return home safely each day without injury or expensive vehicle repairs.”
Roundabouts have just been finished at the intersections of Granville and Smart streets, Fairfield Heights; and Melbourne Road and Canberra Street, St Johns Park.
In the next few months a roundabout will also be installed at Avoca and Humphries roads, Wakeley. “Turning in and out of these streets will now be a lot easier and less frustrating for motorists,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Council continually maintains and looks to improve our local road network and is investing almost $13 million this financial year to maintain and improve 23kms of our local road network to make it safer and more efficient.”
