There will be something on offer for all interests within the Gannawarra Shire during the Easter long weekend.
Community groups will spend the coming week putting the final arrangements together for numerous events throughout the Shire.
“Easter within the Gannawarra is renowned for the number of events on offer, along with the opportunity to relax within the forests or waterways we have on our doorstep,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Whether it is sport, shopping or the arts, the Gannawarra has it all.”
Celebrations will begin on Thursday, 18 April when Kerang’s traders unite for the town’s annual sidewalk sale.
Good Friday will see the start of the Rotary Club of Kerang Art Show, the eight-day Kerang Bowling Club Easter Carnival and four-day tennis tournaments at Cohuna and Kerang.
Murrabit’s two-day Easter tennis tournament begins on Good Friday, with the town’s largest event – the Easter edition of the Murrabit Country Market – occurring on Easter Saturday.
Quambatook’s largest community event will also occur on Easter Saturday with the town hosting the Australian Tractor Pull Championships, whilst a different type of horsepower will be on show at Kerang when the Kerang Cup is decided at Alexandra Park.
Meanwhile, Cohuna will mark Easter Sunday with a special edition of its monthly Farmers and Makers Market.
“All of these events bring extra visitors to the Gannawarra, which boosts the local economy,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Council wishes those who are putting together these renowned community events the best of luck and that these celebrations are a success.”
