The Tasmanian Government has committed to the Arthur Highway Overtaking Lane project as a part of the South East Traffic Solution.
This project will improve safety on the highway. It will reduce delays and driver frustration by increasing overtaking opportunities.
About the projectThe Department has finished a design plan for the project.
During this project we will build:
one kilometre southeast bound overtaking lane. Separate turn lanes for the Valleyfield Road and Schofield Drive junctions. Safer school bus stop locations and U-turn facilities in Valleyfield Road and Schofield Drive. The U-turn and safe bus stop locations will be a safe place for buses to pick up and drop off passengers. They will help us meet the current and future needs of the community.
