Statement from the Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill:
“I note the outline of submissions, in relation to Term of Reference 4, presented today by Counsel Assisting the Inquiry. This follows the public hearings for this particular Term of Reference held earlier this week.
“Those submissions support the conclusion that the Council’s relevant decisions and actions in relation to the process of engaging the independent investigators, including the management of any conflicts of interest, were reasonable and in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1993 that are nominated in the Public Inquiry’s terms of reference.
“The Council formally supported those submissions.
“We will await the Commissioner’s report on Term of Reference 4 before making any further comment.
“We will continue to participate constructively in the public inquiry.”
