Sport and recreation clubs throughout the Toowoomba Region are being encouraged to have a say on the needs and priorities for their organisations moving forward.
Toowoomba Regional Council’s Environment and Community portfolio leader Cr Joe Ramia said completing the survey was an opportunity for the groups to help plan and prioritise sport facility infrastructure works for the future.
“We’re in the process of developing a new Sport, Active Recreation and Healthy Living Plan to guide Council actions for the short to mid-term future and the feedback from these clubs will help shape the decisions we make,” Cr Ramia said.
“As part of our research, it’s critical we understand how sport and recreation organisations use existing facilities and determine the issues, concerns and opportunities facing sport and recreation organisations.
“We recently asked residents about what they would like to see and now we are focusing on sport and recreation groups.
“This survey is seeking information including current membership levels for clubs, facilities they use, anticipated growth, essential facility upgrades required, feedback on our grants, fees, maintenance and how to upgrade processes.
“The plan will consider a broad range of spaces, places and activities that support active living from formal sport through to nature-based recreation, skate/scooter/bike activities, adventure-based recreation and individually-motivated activities.
“It will identify key priorities and investigate how Council provides for and manages sport, active recreation and healthy living opportunities and what services are important to our community.
“This is your chance to ensure your club’s needs are considered in the study as the club survey is the main avenue clubs will have to let Council know about their needs.”
