Bring It On! Festival the best yet

Thousands of young people from across Sydney flocked to Fairfield Showground on Sunday for the state’s biggest and best celebration of youth culture – Bring It On!

Young people embraced the centrepiece of the day’s festivities – the inaugural Rainbow Run. The Rainbow Run challenged participants to enjoy a fun obstacle course on the Showground’s brand new festival arena, while being splashed in coloured powder.

Visitors were also treated to festival rides, Glitter Bar, DanceKool Block Party, sports activities, graffiti art demonstrations, and music and dance performances.

The festival culminated in a Foam Dance Party hosted by popular Australian performer DJ Tigerlily.

In keeping with this year’s theme of mental health, service providers were on hand throughout the afternoon to offer information and support to interested young people.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Bring It On! is a major highlight on the Council’s festival calendar.

“Council is proud to support families and young people with the Bring It On! Festival. Families are the lifeblood of our community and providing exciting activities and festivals for their enjoyment is a key focus for Council,” Mayor Carbone said.

“The Rainbow Run was especially exciting. It was a fun celebration of our rich and diverse multicultural community. It was great to see so many people walking around covered in colour during the afternoon.

“Council is working hard to transform Fairfield Showground into the beating heart of our City – a place where the community can gather to celebrate everything that makes Fairfield City a great place to live, work and raise a family. It was exciting to see all the young people enjoying the new facilities.

“I would like to thank our sponsors, community partners and more than 150 dedicated volunteers for all their hard work in delivering such a special event to the community.”

Fairfield City Council thanks sponsors Cabra-Vale Diggers and St Johns Bowling Club, community partners Stockland Wetherill Park and Timezone Wetherill Park, and media partner The Edge 96.1FM.
