Young people in the region have been recognised for their contributions to the community at the annual Snowy Monaro Youth Awards.
The 2019 Youth Awards showcased the achievements of young people in the Snowy Monaro. Held during National Youth Week, the awards honoured young people aged 12 to 24 years-of-age.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council Youth Development Officer Mel Sass commended all award nominees, finalists and winners.
“The quality of the nominations meant the selection panel had a tough job in selecting finalists and award recipients, but it also cemented our view that young people are the future of the Snowy Monaro and that the future is in safe hands,” Mel said.
Mayor John Rooney presented the Mayor’s Award for Overall Outstanding Achievement to Rylie Marks. Rylie’s community focussed pursuits include: Snowy Monaro Youth Councillor, member of Rotary Interact and work with St Vinnies.
Snowy Monaro Regional Councillor James Ewart, who also chairs the Youth Council, was the MC for the awards dinner.
