The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale launched its advocacy video at an event with key stakeholders at Quarry Farm on Tuesday, 16 March.
Titled Our Plan for our Growing Community, the video highlights six key projects in the Shire which are needed to support the region’s rapid growth.
Projects showcased in the video are:
Extending the existing Tonkin Highway from Thomas Road in Byford to the South Western Highway in Mundijong. The new Byford train station to be located in the Byford town centre. Providing a community sporting facility at Kiernan Park. Improving the Shire’s road network through the Hypergrowth Network Implementation project. Upgrading walking trails to a world-class standard. Building a nature splash park in the heart of Byford at Bill Hicks Reserve.Shire President Michelle Rich said the video formed part of the Shire’s advocacy strategy to secure external funding to deliver these critical infrastructure projects.
“The Shire remains the fastest growing local government in WA,” Cr Rich said.
“Our rapid growth has brought many positive changes to our region and has helped promote us as a vibrant and attractive place for people to live, work and play.
“It also brings the challenge of delivering important services and facilities to support the needs of our diverse communities.
“But we cannot deliver these services and infrastructure projects on our own.
“Through partnerships we can make these critical projects a reality and deliver social, environmental and economic benefits for our local community, the Peel region and WA.”
